Cash Against Documents
Also known as Documentary Collection, a payment arrangement in which an exporter instructs their bank to forward shipping and title documents related to the export of goods to the importer’s bank with a request to present the documents for payment. Once the importer pays the invoice in full the bank will hand over the shipping and title documents.
Valley can act as the financial institution to facilitate the transaction by instructing the exporter’s bank to present the documents to Valley’s bank to enable Valley to take up the documents on the importers behalf.
In brief, goods are shipped, the shipping and title documents are presented bank to bank. Valley accept the documents on behalf of the importer and the exporter is paid. The documents are in hand for the importer to get a quick release of the goods once they arrive at port and a smooth transaction is complete.
